Haney Phinyowattanachip PLLC’s first associate, Andrew P. Selman has represented clients in a range of litigation matters in federal and state court, as well as in complaints filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Office of Civil Rights of the U.S. Department of Education. Andrew’s experience includes defending against breach of contract claims and claims arising under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, Title VII, the ADA, the EPA, and VFOIA. In addition, Andrew has experience related to design and construction contracts and related disputes. Andrew has also advised K-12 clients on a variety of matters, including issues related to the FMLA, VFOIA, employee drug testing, procurement of goods and services, land use, and health regulations.

Andrew is an active member of the Virginia State Bar and has been awarded the Young Lawyer’s Conference Significant Service Award for his contributions. He has also provided pro bono representation through a veterans’ service organization that assists veterans appealing the denial of their benefits claims before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

Prior to joining the firm, Andrew was an associate at a long-standing Virginia law firm, where he represented business and individual clients in a variety of litigation matters. He also served as a law clerk to Judge Julie E. Carnes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit before entering private practice.

Andrew earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a member of the Virginia Law Review. He majored in political science and Korean while completing his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University.
